The 50/40/10 split
Most recruiters post whatever they feel like posting that day. A win, a rant, a quote graphic, a selfie from the office. Then they wonder why the account sits at the same follower count for a year. Growth is not a volume problem, it is a mix problem. The Blueprint fixes the mix with one ratio.
From the Recruiting Blueprint
The split between your content types should be about 50% Contact content, 40% Value content, and 10% Relationship content after you hit your growth spurt.
The three content types
- Contact content is relatable content that you resonate with. It is the top of your funnel: broad, human, and shareable. Strangers stop for it because it is about them, not you.
- Value content provides knowledge, help, or insight while performing well in the algorithm. It is the middle of the funnel: the reason a stranger decides you are worth following.
- Relationship content builds connection: stories, experiences, beliefs, feelings. It is the bottom of the funnel, and it is what turns a follower into someone who books a call.
Why the ratio is weighted toward strangers
Half of everything you post is for people who have never seen you before. That feels backwards to most creators, because the comments that feel good come from people who already follow you. But your following does not grow from people who already follow you. The algorithm distributes what strangers finish and share, and strangers finish contact content.
Value content earns the follow. Relationship content earns the trust. But relationship content shown to a cold audience is a stranger telling you their life story on the bus. That is why it stays at ten percent, and why it comes last.
Before the growth spurt
From the Recruiting Blueprint
Until you're seeing 20-30% growth in your accounts you should mainly be trying to attract more eyes and ears via Contact and Value content.
The ratio is not day one advice. Day one, you have no audience to build a relationship with, so nearly everything should be contact and value. Once the account grows 20-30% month over month, layer in the ten percent. Downlines tracks that growth number on your dashboard for exactly this reason: the ratio changes when the number says so, not when you get bored.
